February 18, 2008 - The Prudential Center is best known as home to several sports teams. These teams include the New Jersey Devils of the NHL, the New Jersey Ironmen of the Major Indoor Soccer League as well home to the Seton Hall Pirates Men's Basketball team. Located in downtown Newark, New Jersey the mult-purpose indoor arena was designed by HOK Sport and Morris Adjmi Architects.
The arena is tucked into the heart of Newark near Newark Penn Staion and west of the Ironbound district. The Prudential Center is one of the first sports venues created in the New York area.
Groundbreaking began in 2005. Intended to be the home for the New Jersey Nets, the team was sold the Nets were headed to New York.
The arena has also featured several hit artists grace the stage during concerts. Some of these sensational artists included Big & Rich, Daughtry, Gretchen Wilson, The All-American Rejects and My Chemical Romance.
On October 27, the Devils played their first game against the Ottawa Senators. During the current 2007-08 season, fans can also buy tickets to the NJIT Highlanders basketball games.
